Unreal Tournament 3 Playstation 3 Splitscreen Gameplay
We get the Unreal Tournament 3 2.0 update for Playstation 3.
We were able to test the mods browser and download some maps made by the community.
But one of the major feature on the Playstation 3 version is the local multiplayer mode added.
Guime and I recorded some Instagib deathmatchs to show you the awesome work Epic Games has done.

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, 720 Vs. 1080
Why this “match” ?
I often post screenshot on GTPlanet Forums.
GT recently asked me to grab some screenshots showing differences between 720 and 1080 resolutions in Gran Turismo 5: Prologue.
As I didn’t heard about articles stating on this, I thought it could be a good idea.
It took us a week to get all screens, 208 (Yeah, TaxiGamer doesn’t fill all our time!).
How we proceed :
All captures where pure digital signal through Playstation 3’s HDMI output.
As our hardware can only capture 1080i streams, we had to capture steady shots so no interlace fields are visible and ruin the comparison. And this way we get a 1080p “illusion”!
We recorded a “race” with a stopped car. We saved the replay and then captured 104 pictures at each resolutions, 1080 and 720.
Original screenshots were grabbed almost uncompressed (YUV 4:2:2 16 bit) and we share them as PNG files to avoid losses on our Flickr Photostream and the slideshows below.
The only thing we’ve added is the watermark. We didn’t de-interlaced them or adjust anything else.
The results :
Well it depends your perception.
1080 offer a sharper image but aliasing will be more perceptible. 720 looks “blurred” but introduce less jaggies. This is due to a different anti-aliasing methods between both resolutions.
It’s a matter of tastes !
You have to know that with both resolutions, tearing and slowdowns are seamlessly the same and occur at the same points in replays and in-game.
You’ll notice that 1080i screens look blurred, this is certainly due to GT5:P 1440×1080 native resolution upscaled to 1980×1080.
But on my LCD (Sony KDL-32D3000) 1080i/p signal looks way better because it is downscaled to native resolution (1366×768)…
Look for yourself!
